Most see life as the calm before the storm, but what happens when the storm hits? The manner in which we cope with stressors has an immense impact on our quality of life. It can be profoundly unpleasant and seriously affect our spiritual, emotional and physical health.
We all handle stressors differently, and how we cope can either hinder or help our individual situation.
The next step is to choose a way to deal with your stress. STOP and BREATHE. Ask yourself if what you are doing today is getting you closer to where you want to be tomorrow. Managing stress is an on- going process. Life will always have stressors and we can either be pushed by our problems or led by them. Accept the situation and create the formula which best suits you. Identify your priorities and be realistic about the expectations you have about yourself. It is not about perfection, it is about relief.
You are the final factor in deciding what to do. Perhaps, your personal relationship with God prepares you. Taking care of your body and mind through exercise and meditation may also be effective. How about removing the word STRESS from your vocabulary altogether?
We create our happiness or our discord. Remember why you are here. You are strong and with that strength should come flexibility. Remember they reason we need to find an effective way to cope with the current crisis so we can move forward.
Quitting is the easy part, it’s managing that is difficult. Learning is a gift even when pain is the teacher. It takes tenacity and courage to cope. Many times we allow our stress to change us into a person we are not because we do not take the time to STOP and Breathe.
It will get better but the choice is ours to make.
